Select one of your units, then tap the order buttons to build its eight-step queue · each unit has 8 action points to spend, and heavier orders like Charge and Shoot cost two. Plan every unit, then press Execute. All units run their orders simultaneously over eight ticks, and you win the round if every enemy unit is dead by the end.

What do the three unit types do?

Soldiers walk one tile and are immune to a cavalry charge from the front, but take two archer volleys to kill. Cavalry walk two tiles, can charge three, and instantly kill any unit they enter from the side or back · but they die charging a soldier head-on. Archers can shoot a straight line two to eight tiles ahead, killing cavalry and archers outright, but they fold to a single arrow or any unit that touches them.

What does "simultaneous turns" mean?

Unlike chess, nobody waits their turn. On each of the eight ticks, every unit on the board carries out the order in that slot at the same moment · arrows fly first, then everyone moves. That means you have to predict where the enemy will be on each tick, not just where they are now.

How is my score calculated?

You earn 100 points for each enemy unit destroyed, plus every action point your surviving units did not spend. So clearing the board is the goal, but doing it with a short, efficient plan that leaves points unspent scores higher than a sloppy win.

Does it get harder as I go?

Yes. Early rounds pit you against a single enemy on a clear line. As your streak climbs, more enemies join, soldiers appear that need two volleys to break, and you more often have to wheel a unit to face the right way before it can act · so the eight-step puzzle gets tighter.

Does it work offline?

About Battle Mate

Battle Mate is a bite-size tactics puzzle built on a single idea · simultaneous turns. Every unit on the board, yours and the enemy's, runs an eight-step order queue at the same time. You program your units first · queue up walks, turns, charges and volleys · then press Execute and watch all eight ticks resolve at once. There is no taking turns; everyone moves together, so timing and positioning are everything.

Three units, three roles. The soldier is a wall · it shrugs off a cavalry charge to its front and takes two arrow volleys to fall. The cavalry is a hammer · it moves fast, charges three tiles, and kills anything it strikes from the side or back, but it dies if it crashes into a soldier's shield. The archer is a glass cannon · its volley kills down a whole line two to eight tiles ahead, but anything that so much as touches it ends it. Reading those match-ups is the game.

Plan against the playbook. The enemy's orders are fixed · they hold the line, then advance. Your job is to find the eight-step plan that wipes them out before they reach you, spending as few action points as possible. Leftover points and dead enemies both score, so the cleanest, fastest plan wins biggest.
