About PlayMemorize Connotation
Connotation is an emotional-intelligence game about reading between the lines. Each round shows a short literary excerpt from a famous book and asks you to identify the primary emotion or feeling it conveys.
How a round works. Read the passage, weigh its voice and context, and pick the correct emotion from the four options. The pool covers 110+ curated moments from classic authors like Austen, Dickens, Doyle, and Shelley.
Learning feelings. Recognizing emotions in prose is a core component of reading comprehension and empathy. By seeing how masters of language describe internal states without always naming them, you build a finer vocabulary for your own and others' feelings.
Classic literature. All passages are sourced from public-domain classics, spanning various genres from romance and mystery to gothic horror and adventure.
Part of the PlayMemorize family of brain-training games. Runs entirely in your browser, works offline as a Progressive Web App.
