History Quiz
About PlayMemorize History Quiz
PlayMemorize History Quiz is a three-mode history game on one hand-curated pool of internationally-known events. Toggle the question type you want to practise: When? (pick the year an event happened), Who? (pick the person responsible), or What? (given a person and year, pick which deed was actually theirs). Mix all three for the full gauntlet. One wrong answer ends the streak.
Adjustable difficulty. In year mode, the distractor spread tightens from centuries to just a few years. In who mode, harder difficulty replaces random-era decoys with same-era rivals who really could have done it. In what mode, same-era deeds replace obvious anachronisms.
One pool, three skills. History Quiz, Order by When, and the labyrinth's history encounters all draw from the same dataset. Practising any one mode sharpens recognition that helps across all the others.
Part of the PlayMemorize family of brain-training games. Runs entirely in your browser, works offline as a Progressive Web App.
FAQ
Q: What are the three question modes?
When? — see an event, pick the year it happened. Who? — see an event, pick the person responsible. What? — see a person and a year, pick which deed was actually theirs. Toggle the chips on the idle panel to focus on one mode or mix them all.
Q: How does difficulty work?
In year mode, distractors narrow from centuries to just a few years either side. In who mode, hard difficulty swaps random-era names for same-era rivals. In what mode, hard difficulty uses same-era deeds so anachronism can't help. All three scales are controlled by the same difficulty setting.
Q: Where do the events come from?
A hand-curated pool of internationally-known events spanning Roman, Renaissance, Industrial, and Modern eras, shared with the Order by When game and the labyrinth's history encounters.
Q: Does it work in my language?
The UI is fully translated into all 25 PlayMemorize languages. Event descriptions and actor names ship in English with locale fallbacks; translated content drops into the same data file as it becomes available.
Q: How does my progress save?
Best streaks are saved locally in your browser. The streak carries across all three modes in a mixed session.
