Estimation
About PlayMemorize Estimation
Estimation is a number-sense training game. Each round poses a question that requires you to judge a quantity without calculating · how many objects fit inside a reference, how a product compares to an everyday benchmark, or whether a given volume is bigger or smaller than a familiar container.
Three question pools. Comparisons · rank two quantities or judge which is bigger. Products · estimate the result of multiplying two large numbers. Volumes · judge capacity and fill from asymmetric container shapes.
Fermi estimation skills. Every question is a miniature back-of-the-envelope problem. Players develop number sense and scale intuition · skills used by scientists, engineers, and analysts every day.
Streak format. A correct answer moves you to the next question; a miss ends the run. Difficulty widens the range of quantities and tightens the choice spacing so easy estimation gives way to genuine approximation.
Part of the PlayMemorize family of brain-training games. Runs entirely in your browser, works offline as a Progressive Web App.
FAQ
Q: What is Estimation?
A number-sense streak game where you estimate quantities, products, or volumes by choosing the closest answer from a list. One wrong answer ends the streak.
Q: What are the three topic pools?
Comparisons (rank or compare two quantities), Products (estimate the result of multiplying large numbers), and Volumes (judge capacity from container shapes). You can filter to one pool or mix all three.
Q: What skill does this train?
Fermi estimation · the ability to make educated guesses about quantities using reasoning and reference points rather than precise calculation. It is the core skill behind back-of-the-envelope thinking.
Q: How does difficulty scale?
Easy difficulty gives answer choices that are far apart, making the right option obvious. Higher difficulty tightens the choices and widens the quantity ranges so you need more refined number sense to pick correctly.
