Pattern Recognition
Four pattern challenges in one place · matrix reasoning, odd-one-out classification, rule induction, and mirror symmetry. Pick a mode and build a streak.
About PlayMemorize Pattern Recognition
Pattern Recognition is a multi-mode abstract reasoning game. Each round shows you a set of items that obey an underlying rule, and your job is to identify what that rule is · or to apply it to pick a missing item or find the one that breaks it.
Three modes. Matrix · complete a 3×3 grid where each row and column follows one or more transformation rules (shape, colour, size, fill, count). Odd One Out · identify which item in a set does not share the property the others have in common. Rule Induction · observe a sequence of transformations and deduce the hidden rule that governs when an effect is triggered.
Fluid intelligence. Pattern recognition is one of the core components of fluid intelligence · the ability to reason about novel situations without relying on prior knowledge. All three modes test this in complementary ways: matrix completion tests simultaneous rule application, odd-one-out tests categorical abstraction, rule induction tests hypothesis formation and confirmation.
Streak format. A correct answer advances the streak; one wrong answer ends it. Difficulty increases the number of active rules, the subtlety of the pattern, and the number of plausible distractors.

FAQ
Q: What is Pattern Recognition?
A multi-mode abstract reasoning streak game. You complete pattern matrices, identify the item that does not belong, or deduce the hidden rule governing a sequence. One wrong answer ends the streak.
Q: What are the three modes?
Matrix (complete a 3×3 pattern grid), Odd One Out (find the item that breaks the shared property), and Rule Induction (observe transformations and identify the hidden trigger rule).
Q: How is this different from the existing Matrix and Odd One Out games?
The standalone Matrix and Odd One Out games each focus on one mode. Pattern Recognition bundles all three modes together with a topic filter, and adds Rule Induction as a third sub-skill not available elsewhere in the catalogue.
Q: What does fluid intelligence mean?
Fluid intelligence is the capacity to reason about novel patterns without drawing on memorised facts. It is measured by tasks like matrix completion and is considered one of the best predictors of problem-solving ability across domains.
Q: How does my progress save?
