About Perfect Day

Perfect Day is a playful way to ask yourself a simple question: if you could design one ideal day, how would you spend it? Drag the sliders to give hours to sleep, work, study, fun and family, and the sixth slice · me-time · quietly soaks up whatever is left, so your day always adds up to exactly 24 hours.

Then compare. Press the button and your ideal day is laid side by side with the average day in a country of your choice · the United States, Japan, France, Sweden and more. You might sleep more than the average Japanese person, or give far more time to family than the average commuter.

Where the averages come from. The country figures are simplified from national time-use surveys collated in the OECD Time Use Database · the big international study of how people actually spend their days · grouped into the same six everyday buckets. They are rounded for a fair comparison rather than an exact statistic, and each country's day sums to 24 hours, just like yours.

There is no wrong answer. This is your perfect day, not a test · the averages are there purely to surprise you. Your last day is saved, so it is waiting for you next time.
