Do my hours have to add up to 24?

Yes, and they always do · five sliders set sleep, work, study, fun and family, and "me time" automatically takes whatever is left of the 24 hours. If the five together pass 24, the game asks you to trim one.

Where do the country averages come from?

They are simplified from national time-use surveys collated in the OECD Time Use Database, grouped into the same six categories and rounded so the comparison is fair. The page links to the source.

Is there a right answer or a score?

No · it is your ideal day, not a quiz. The country averages are there for curiosity and a little perspective, not to mark you.
