How to Master Bounce
TLDR: Master Bounce by predicting parabolic paths under gravity. Tap a mirror to select it, then rotate it in ten-degree steps. Watch the dotted trajectory update before you fire. On multi-mirror boards, work backward from the floor goal toward the release point.
How a round works
A ball drops from the top edge under gravity. The pull of gravity bends the path of the ball into downward curves.
Rotatable mirrors sit between the top edge and the floor goal. Your objective is to guide the ball into the target pocket.
- Tap a mirror to select it on the board.
- Tap the spin buttons to rotate the mirror ten degrees at a time.
- Observe the dotted trajectory as you turn each mirror.
- Press the fire button to launch the ball along the path.
Each shot that reaches the goal advances the run. Each completed shot adds one more mirror to the next board.
Solvability by construction. The generator creates every board with a guaranteed solution. It chooses the gravity, places the mirrors, and positions the goal where a valid shot lands.
Understanding gravity and parabolic reflection
Laser games use straight lines. Bounce uses gravity, so every flight segment forms a curved parabola.
When a ball strikes a flat mirror, the reflection angle equals the incidence angle. The downward pull of gravity continues after each bounce.
- Gravity strength: Different boards use different gravity levels. High gravity pulls the ball down quickly, which makes arcs steep.
- Speed changes: The ball accelerates as it falls. A faster ball creates flatter bounces off horizontal surfaces.
- Mirror orientation: Small rotations near the top create massive shifts at the bottom.
Single mirror calibration. On early boards with one mirror, test both spin directions. Watch how a ten-degree turn shifts the landing point on the floor. Build an intuition for how mirror angle alters the curve.
Tactics for multi-mirror boards
As your streak grows, boards add more mirrors. Do not adjust mirrors at random. Follow these structured steps:
- Work backward from the goal: Find the final mirror closest to the floor pocket. Rotate it so that incoming balls deflect into the goal.
- Connect intermediate arcs: Move to the previous mirror. Align its angle so that its arc strikes the center of the next mirror.
- Finish at the release point: Finally, adjust the first mirror to intercept the initial drop from the top edge.
Tip · read the dotted line. The dotted preview displays the exact path the ball takes. Verify that the line enters the center of the pocket before you fire.
Tip · center your impacts. Try to hit each mirror near its midpoint. Hitting near an edge risks a miss if small angle changes occur.
Caution · one miss ends the run. Take your time on each board. There is no countdown timer during the aim phase, so verify every bounce carefully.
Why Bounce builds spatial intuition
Bounce trains your brain to estimate trajectories that change under physical forces. Unlike static geometry drills, this exercise requires continuous mental simulation.
Players learn to break a complex curve into sequential segments. This skill supports physics problem solving, athletic trajectory tracking, and mechanical reasoning.
